Community Service: Education and Training on the Benefits of Moringa Leaves

 

Many parents and community members lack sufficient knowledge about natural ingredients such as Moringa leaves, which can be used to improve the nutrition necessary for children to grow healthily. The proposed solution is to provide education and training on the benefits of Moringa leaves (Moringaceae oleifera) as a healthy food in efforts to prevent stunting in toddlers. To address this, the Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Trisakti organized a Community Service activity on May 17, 2024, at RPTRA Mustika Cideng in Central Jakarta. The team was led by Dr. Komariah, S.Si, M.Biomed, and included members Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Kes, Dr. Tien Suwartini, Sp.KG, Subsp. KE (K), Dr. Sri Ratna Laksmiastuti, Sp.K.G.A., and Dr. Florencia Livia, M.K.G. Additionally, the activity was assisted by one PPDGS student, Dr. Joshua Darma, and four Professional Program students: Naomi Lidwina, SKG, Shannon Winnie Susanto, SKG, Nada Fitria, SKG, and Nada Ericka Alya Aribah, SKG. An alumnus, Dr. Theodorus Aldo Fernando, also participated.

 

The educational session ran from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM WIB, opened by the Head of Cideng, Mr. Agus Aripianto, and was attended by 25 PKK cadre mothers. The outcome of this community service activity is expected to enhance the community’s knowledge and understanding of the nutritional value of Moringa leaves and their benefits as a source of nutrition.
