FKG Usakti routinely conducts Community Service activities every year, with different topics. This year the topic will be about the effect of balanced nutrition on general health and oral cavity. Chairperson of PkM drg. Sri Lestari, M.Kes said that nutritional intake has an important role in the growth and development of children because currently there are still many children in Indonesia who experience malnutrition, which can affect general health and dental health.

The results of the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018 DKI Jakarta residents aged 3-4 years had damaged / perforated / diseased teeth as much as 34.44% and those aged 5-9 years as much as 48.46%. Adequate nutritional intake is needed during the early stages of child development, so that if there is a nutritional imbalance it can have adverse effects on the biological function and structure of hard and soft oral tissues and trigger dental caries.

In addition, due to malnutrition and aggravated by the presence of plaque and tartar, it can also have an impact on periodontal tissue which is characterized by bleeding gums (gingivitis) to advanced inflammation (loose teeth, elongated teeth, reddish gums) called periodontitis.

Malnutrition can also cause diseases such as anemia, stunting, vitamin deficiency, and goiter.This PkM activity in addition to explaining the effect of balanced nutrition on general health and oral cavity, also provides training on how to brush teeth properly and correctly, how to use dental floss or dental floss and how to rinse your mouth properly. Through this training, it is hoped that the Cideng Village PKK Team can be more skilled in maintaining oral health so that the occurrence of dental caries or cavities and periodontal disease can be prevented or suppressed.

This PkM activity was carried out on November 17, 2023 which aims to increase insight and knowledge about balanced nutrition and its effect on general health and oral cavity in the PKK mobilizing team of Cideng Village, Central Jakarta. The PkM activity was held at RPTRA Mustika Cideng, Central Jakarta and was opened by the Head of Cideng Village, Mr. Agus Aripiyanto. Through this activity drg. Sri Lestari, M.Kes and the entire PkM team (Dr.dr. Patricia Budi Hartanti Liman, M.Gizi, Sp.GK; Dr.drg. Trijani Suwandi, Sp. Perio (K); Dr.drg. Eko Fibryanto, Sp. KG (K); drg. Caesary Cloudya Panjaitan, MM, MKG; drg. Florencia Livia, MKG; drg. Ni Luh Widya Paramita, Najla, SKG; Putri, SKG; Meliani, SKG), alumni drg. Velisya, Suci Centini Harahap, SE) hopes that the Cideng Village PKK Team can provide education to the community in its working area, so that the degree of general health and dental health of the Cideng Village community increases.
